A Trio of Flagship Off-Road Performance Pickups

A part of the Chevrolet trucks family, the HD ZR2 and HD ZR2 Bison reflect race-proven technologies, bringing remarkable off-road capabilities to the refreshed 2024 Silverado HD lineup.
The HD ZR2 Bison - The Ultimate Off-Road Adventure Truck
In collaboration with American Expedition Vehicles, the ZR2 Bison model introduces unique equipment, positioning it as the ultimate option for off-road enthusiasts seeking the best from their pickup.
"The all-new Silverado HD ZR2 and HD ZR2 Bison provide the off-road performance our customers have come to expect from a ZR2, with the towing and payload capabilities our HD customers demand," said Michael MacPhee, director of Chevrolet Trucks Marketing.
Configurations and Powertrains
Exclusively offered in the 2500 Crew Cab configuration, customers can choose between the standard 6.6L gasoline engine or the available 6.6L Duramax Turbo-Diesel. Leveraging Chevrolet's off-road racing success, these pickups offer upgrades that underline their off-road prowess. Whether it’s crawling trails, tackling tough terrain, or towing adventure toys, the Silverado HD ZR2 and HD ZR2 Bison are designed to excel.
Performance and Capability
The Silverado HD ZR2, despite its rugged off-road competence, does not compromise on-road comfort or heavy-duty truck capability. It embodies the characteristics that make the Silverado 1500 ZR2 a popular choice. The max payload for the Silverado HD ZR2 stands at 3,397 pounds (gas engine), while the max trailering rating impresses at 18,500 pounds, when equipped with the Duramax Turbo-Diesel.
Design and Features
Sporting the ZR2 family’s expressive front grille, unique wheel opening moldings featuring integrated mud guards, and a higher stance, the HD ZR2 asserts a robust image. Both trucks also don the “flow-tie” emblem and offer a suspension raised approximately 1.5 inches (38 mm), front and rear, compared to other Silverado HD 4WD models.
Among its off-road-centric features, the HD ZR2 showcases specific front upper and lower control arms and steering knuckles, Multimatic DSSV Dampers, a larger steel transfer case skid plate, a front aluminum skid plate, rear e-locker, and 35-inch Goodyear Wrangler Territory MT tires mounted on 18 x 9-inch aluminum wheels.
Moreover, the HD ZR2 includes a new Off-Road Mode, adjusting vehicle calibrations to optimize off-road performance. It alters throttle progression and transmission shifts, while the locking rear axle has no speed limitation.
With its off-road capabilities and impressive towing and payload stats, the 2024 Chevrolet Silverado HD ZR2 and its Bison variant make an impressive addition to the Silverado lineup, offering more choices for customers seeking the perfect blend of work and off-road adventure.
