GMC Terrain Goes Bold for 2025: New Trims, Technology Upgrades Elevate Compact SUV Offering
August 07 2024,
GMC has revealed the next-generation 2025 Terrain, showcasing significant upgrades to its compact SUV offering. The new model boasts improved technology, safety features, and a refreshed design that aligns more closely with GMC's truck lineup.
Enhanced Safety and Technology
The 2025 Terrain comes standard with over 15 safety and driver assistance features across all trims. New additions include Enhanced Automatic Emergency Braking, Bicyclist Braking, and Intersection Automatic Emergency Braking.
A 15-inch diagonal Premium GMC Infotainment System is standard, along with an 11-inch diagonal driver information centre. The system supports Google Assistant integration, allowing drivers to control various functions through voice commands.
Up to eight camera views are available, including an optional rear camera mirror—a first for the Terrain. Other tech upgrades include 5G Wi-Fi hotspot capability and an HD Surround Vision camera.
Refreshed Exterior and Interior Design
The new Terrain features a more athletic stance with a redesigned grille that shares design elements with GMC's truck range. A notable addition is the option for a two-tone roof in black or grey, offering increased personalization.
Inside, the cabin showcases sweeping lines to emphasize width, with chrome accents across the instrument panel and doors. Convenient features like wireless chargers are positioned near the armrest.
Performance and Trims
All 2025 Terrain models are equipped with a 1.5L Turbocharged engine, producing 175 horsepower and 203 lb-ft of torque. The SUV offers a maximum trailering capacity of 1,500 pounds. All-wheel drive and an 8-speed automatic transmission come standard on the Elevation trim at launch.
The Elevation trim will be the first to launch, featuring 17-inch wheels as standard. GMC plans to introduce AT4 and Denali trims for the 2026 model year in 2025.
The AT4 trim will focus on off-road capability, including a lifted ride height, metal underbody protection, and all-terrain tires. The Denali trim will emphasize luxury, offering features like heated outboard seats and unique suspension dampers for improved comfort.
Duncan Aldred, global vice president of Buick and GMC, stated, "The 2025 GMC Terrain builds on GMC's strengths and offers our latest, premium technology and safety features, while bringing a fresh, bold design to our two-row SUV."
The next-generation Terrain is expected to launch in late 2024, starting with the Elevation trim. More details about pricing and specific launch dates will be released closer to the vehicle's market introduction.
